Alex Fryer

Alex Fryer trained as a nurse at Guys Hospital in 1985 and is now one of the UK’s leading PSHE speakers specialising in issues around sex and healthy relationships.
Having enjoyed a wide and varied nursing career, 15 years ago she decided to focus all her attention on sexual health and contraception, an area she has been involved with throughout her nursing career.
Having trained as a Specialist Practitioner in Sexual Health and Contraception (ENB 901) she initially spent much of her time working within the Norfolk Primary Care Trust. This involved the running of sessions and clinics in the local schools and colleges, advising on matters of relationships, sexual health and contraception. Alex completed her Independent and Supplementary Prescribing course in 2004.
Alex has many years of experience providing information to young people, parents and teachers. This has been helped enormously by her own experience as a mother of two, now, grown-up children. Recognising and appreciating the problems and pressures facing young people today with regard to negotiating healthy relationships and safe sex in an increasingly challenging world, has enabled her to develop the necessary skills and sensitivity to communicate effectively with young people. The work she carries out in schools has now extended to teachers and pastoral care teams and over the past years she has also worked at the University of East Anglia as an associate lecturer.
Alex has to date visited around 120 schools throughout the UK most of these now on an annual basis and the numbers continue to grow.
